Pasco County hovernment hosts community meetings

Pasco County, Florida -- The Pasco County Board of County Commissioners will host three community meetings to discuss several topics including the 2013-2017 Strategic Plan, FY 2013-14 Budget, Penny for Pasco, road maintenance needs, and the upcoming National Citizen Survey (NCS) to be conducted May 3 - June 14.  The Board of County Commissioners will use the opinions and ideas shared during these meetings and from surveys to assist with upcoming budget decisions.

Senator Legg hosts legislative update

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- Senator John Legg will provide a legislative update to the Pasco County School Board at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, in the district’s television studio.  Sen. Legg will discuss changes in education laws passed during the 2013 Legislative Session, which is scheduled to end on Friday, May 3.

The Board then will hold their regular meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the boardroom, followed by a workshop in the television studio on charter schools and the budget.

Clinton Avenue widening public info meeting

Pasco County, Florida -- There will be a public information meeting and construction project update on Thursday, May 9.

It will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 37015 Orange Valley Lane, Dade City.

The purpose of the meeting is for the construction contractor and Pasco County staff to provide project status and schedule updates, and answer questions regarding the Clinton Avenue Widening Project which extends from west of Fort King Highway to east of U.S. 301.

Pasco County, Florida -- Municipal elections for New Port Richey, St. Leo, and Zephyrhills are set for next Tuesday, April 9, 2013. 

Municipal elections are for voters residing within the city limits only.  "Local government has a tremendous impact on our lives and as such, I would strongly encourage the citizens of New Port Richey, St. Leo and Zephyrhills to have their voices heard at the ballot box," said Supervisor Corley.

Volunteers needed for Restore Act Committee

Pasco County, Florida -- The Pasco County Board of County Commissioners is looking for volunteers to serve on its Restore Act Committee.

The committee will provide input to the Board on the use of potential Restore Act funds that could come to the County as a result of fines against companies responsible for the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

The Restore Act Trust Fund was established to maintain funds and certain percentages will be used for ecological and economic restoration of the Gulf Coast region.

Pasco Sheriff’s Office hires New Port Richey Police Chief

New Port Richey, Florida -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has announced it has hired New Port Richey Police Chief James Steffens as its new Chief Forensic Investigator.

Steffens will be replacing Charlie May who spent 25 years at the Pasco Sheriff’s Office and the last seven years as Chief Forensic Investigator. May’s retirement will be effective on March 31, 2013.
